Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac Earns Second Daytime Emmy® Award Nomination

Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac, a WGBH Boston public television production, has been nominated for a second Daytime Emmy® Award in its two-season history, this year in the Outstanding Lifestyles Program category. Woodcraft is the show’s major sponsor.

During the show’s first season, Laurie Donnelly, executive producer, was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary Program category. Rough Cut has also won bronze Telly Awards in both seasons – two in 2012 and one in 2011.

“It’s humbling to receive a second Emmy® Award nomination for Rough Cut,” said Laurie Donnelly. “I feel honored that we’re enriching our viewers’ experience through hands-on DIY education and entertainment in each half hour segment, and look forward to doing so for years to come.”

Boston native and furnituremaker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of the well-known North Bennet Street School, hosts Rough Cut. During the 13 episodes each season he shares his woodworking experience with viewers to build fine furniture while demonstrating a mix of woodworking techniques and processes and offering “T-Mac” tips. Tommy draws inspiration from trips to historic sites in Boston and around the nation.

The Daytime Emmy Award winners will be announced in June.
