Woodcraft Magazine Now Available in Digital Format

Woodcraft Magazine subscribers may now choose a digital format to receive the woodworking publication rather than the traditional paper copy.

Woodcraft Magazine, owned by Woodcraft Supply, LLC, chose San Francisco-based Zinio, a provider of digital products and services worldwide, to deliver the digital subscriptions through www.zinio.com. Subscriptions are available for PC, Mac, iPad, Android and will be delivered to subscribers in the same timeframe as the paper copies and at the same price. Issue 46 (April/May 2012), and Issue 47 (June/July 2012) are the first publications to be offered in digital format. Click on the photo below to order Woodcraft Magazine in digital format or click on the link found on the Woodcraft Woodworking Adventures Blog Link Page.

Subscribers to the digital edition will find a choice not available for paper copy subscriptions called the continuous service option. If checked, your subscription will automatically be renewed using the original method of payment. Subscribers may uncheck the box if they prefer to renew annually.

“With society becoming more technologically connected every day it makes sense to offer Woodcraft Magazine subscribers the digital format option,” … Jody Garrett, Woodcraft president and magazine publisher.

Project, technique and tool and accessory features are the core content of Woodcraft Magazine, which is geared for woodworkers of all skill levels. Visit www.woodcraftmagazine.com and www.facebook.com/woodcraftmagazine  to learn more about the magazine.

Q: Will this be a digital format that I have to log into access? The issue there is, suppose I subscribe for a year and have access to 6 issues ... but I bought those issues ... after a year I believe this Zino system would deny me access to those that I bought. I would prefer a PDF subscription like PW offers so I own the digital copy. Whereas, a paper subscription I would have for all eternity. There is no price break for the digital subscription? Reply

      4) Will this be a digital format that I have to log into access? The issue there is, suppose I subscribe for a year and have access to 6 issues … but I bought those issues … after a year I believe this Zino system would deny me access to those that I bought. I would prefer a PDF subscription like PW offers so I own the digital copy. Whereas, a paper subscription I would have for all eternity. There is no price break for the digital subscription?... Answer: You do have to set up a user name and password on the Zinio site and would have to log in for access. However, digital issues through Zinio.com will be available (on their site) for as long as you have your subscription. With the digital subscription you do have the capability of downloading the issue onto your computer to view offline so as long as you keep it on your computer you will have access. The digital subscription is exactly the same content, photos, illustrations, etc as the paper copy and is priced the same. Woodcraft Magazine is exploring the possibility of offering a combination subscription (paper and digital) but that option is still in the preliminary stages. At the earliest it would be available Spring/Summer of 2013 and would offer a “price break” but no details have been established as of yet. Reply

      1) Will digital format be available to those who continue with hard copy option?... Woodcraft Magazine just recently released their magazine via digital format and currently are selling, through Zinio.com, digital subscriptions independent of the paper copy version. They are exploring the possibility of offering a combination subscription (paper and digital) but that option is still in the preliminary stages. At the earliest it would be available Spring/Summer of 2013. 2) Will older past issues be digitized/archived?... Plans are currently in the works to offer back issues digitally on Woodcraft.com (as pdf’s) with all back issues available by the end of 2013. 3) For how long will digital issues be available – will there be an archive?... Digital issues through Zinio.com will be available (on their site) for as long as you have your subscription. With the digital subscription you do have the capability of downloading the issue onto your computer to view offline so as long as you keep it on your computer you will have access. As for the past issues through Woodcraft.com these are downloaded pdf’s and so again you will have access as long as you keep them on your computer. Reply

How about if I already have a subscription for the next few years? Could I get some sort of transfer from one to the other... and it an extention or price break. Or do I have o wait for one to end before signing to the other. I should have had an email for this one way or the other. I found out by fining this on the blog.... Reply
