Norfolk Woodcraft Offers Woodworking for Veterans Program

WoodworkingForVeterans

WoodworkingForVeterans-2Woodcraft franchise owners, Bill and Heather Caillet have a new Woodworking for Veterans program in place at our Woodcraft store in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area.  Their mission is dedicated to helping the physical and emotional rehabilitation of wounded and injured active military service personnel and Veterans through woodworking activities.  The program is designed to provide basic woodworking skills and enhance the quality of life for these service members and Veterans.  Woodworking For Veterans will focus on the abilities of each participant while they grow in their woodworking skills.

WoodworkingForVeterans-1Woodworking for Veterans is free to all wounded and injured active military personnel and Veterans.

Skilled craftsmen and artisans from Woodcraft will volunteer to teach the use of various hand and power tools, with monthly woodworking projects such as:
Bowl turning, Scroll saw projects, Band saw boxes, Wood burning, Box making, Joinery, Furniture design, and much, much more. These monthly projects are designed to enhance all skills in woodworking, from hand tools to power tools, during this hands on program.

WoodworkingForVeterans-7As skill levels grow the projects get more challenging, yet Woodworking For Veterans is designed for all skill levels.  Participants can join at any time as Woodworking for Veteran is an ongoing program.  Skills covered each month will help the participant move further in their woodworking ability and the program is designed for the more experienced person to help mentor new participants.  As woodworking abilities increase, veterans will share and mentor with other fellow veterans.
